With the approval of the PRC National Financial Regulatory Administration Beijing Office, Arthur J. Gallagher (AJG), a global leader in insurance brokerage and risk management services, has recently acquired all the equity interest in an insurance brokerage company in China and changed its name to Gallagher Insurance Brokers (Beijing) Limited. This marks a significant milestone for AJG in the Chinese market, and demonstrates the high-level opening-up of China’s financial industry.
The JT&N team, led by senior partners Elsie Shi and George Yu, has provided legal services to AJG during the entire process of this acquisition. The JT&N team has also previously assisted HSBC and Mercer in their acquisitions of the equity interests in insurance brokerage companies in China, with the HSBC deal being the first such acquisition approved by the PRC insurance regulator in almost a decade.
