On May 30, 2011, Lawyer Liu Hongyu, a senior partner of JT&N, attended the inaugural meeting of the “Working with One Heart” Lawyers’ Service Group (the “Service Group”) held inBeijing.
The Service Group, jointly sponsored by the United Front Work Department (UFWD) of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), and organized by the All-China Lawyers Association (ACLA), aims to provide services in legal advice, professional training, and publicity campaigns for non-certified attorneys from 48 of the 200 counties across China, in the form of targeted support. JT&N distinguished itself among first-class law firms in Chinaand became a member of the Service Group due to its top performance in legal services and ongoing involvement in public welfare. The firm will be responsible for offering legal assistance to LuodianCountyin the Qiannan Buyi and MiaoAutonomousPrefecturein southwest China’s GuizhouProvince.
Mr. Chen Xiqing, Vice Minister of UFWD, and Mr. Zhao Dacheng, Vice Minister of MOJ, attended the conference and delivered keynote speeches. The meeting also brought together the 48 certified attorneys, who aim to provide legal services to the 48 counties non-certified attorneys, as well as the leaders and representatives from the counties of non-certified attorneys, the authorities in charge of united front work and justice at the provincial, municipal and autonomous regions levels, and ACLA. The signing ceremony for the lawyers of the Service Group and the counties to be supported signals the official launching of the Service Group, thus laying a solid foundation for improving the legal system in the country.
