On the afternoon of March 28, 2023, Zhen ZHAO, a senior partner of JT&N, and Tian HAO, a lawyer of JT&N, were invited by Peking University Law School to deliver a lecture on “Legal Practice about Cross-border Commercial Dispute Resolution Cases” for the postgraduate students majoring in international commercial law enrolled in 2022. This was the second consecutive year that Mr. Zhen ZHAO delivered this lecture at Peking University Law School.
In this lecture, Mr. Zhen ZHAO shared with the students his own experience in representing complicated cases of cross-border commercial dispute resolution, including how to determine specific litigation approach, how to choose the optimal litigation strategy, how to proceed with the verification and collation of evidence and factual issues abroad, how to work well with overseas lawyers, how to bridge the litigation and arbitration proceedings among different jurisdictions, and how to ensure the judgment and arbitral award made in China enforceable outside China. With his extensive practice experience in cross-border commercial dispute resolution, Mr. Zhen ZHAO gave the students an insight into foreign-related legal practice.
Mr. Zhen ZHAO interacted with the students frequently during the lecture by asking questions and inspiring them to think about the legal logic behind the issues; he also prepared a special Q&A session at the end of the lecture, where the postgraduate students of international commercial law asked a lot of questions related to the lecture content and legal career development, and Mr. Zhen ZHAO answered them one by one in detail. Adopting the method of practical case studies plus Q&A in the lecture, Mr. ZHAO enhanced the students’ understanding of foreign-related legal knowledge and practice. All students said that they benefited greatly from the lecture.
Mr. Zhen ZHAO is a senior partner of JT&N Beijing Head Office and also serves as an arbitrator in various arbitration institutions.
